Just under an hour outside of Lilongwe lies Namitete Dam, perfect for a day out especially if you’re missing the UK: it felt just as if we were in the English countryside. On the edge of the dam is the Duck Inn with fab lunches and a ‘help yourself’ bar. There are boats on the edge of the water that are free to take out, and speaking from experience I’d opt for the canoes rather than our bathtub like boat if you want to get anywhere quickly or easily!
